The Settings app on Android includes a screen called Developer options that lets you configure system behaviors that help your profile and debug your app performance.
Developer Option can fully customize your smartphone.
Is it safe to use the developer option in Android?
Yes, it is quite safe to use the developer option in android and it depends on what features you want to enable in the developer mode as well.
By turning it on you got many features as follows:-
1. Stay awake:- With this option enabled you will be able to see
the screen whenever your device will charge. For, developers, this
is a useful feature to see the motion of many apps at a single
time to monitor the features of these apps while charging on. Make
sure that it is not like increasing the timer of the screen awake
which we see in settings. The screen will be awake only when the
device is plugged into the socket with a charger and when it will
be removed it will be automatically sleeping after 5–10
minutes(depending upon the screen timer you have already
set).
2. OEM Unlocking:-Suppose a situation for any reason you have done factory data reset of your android phone and then again opening it it will ask you to write your Email and password which was last used. For any reason suppose you didn’t remember that. Then what??? You will not see any skip option on the google page. In these situations OEM Unlocking is helpful. If that user is already enabled OEM Unlocking then that device will give freedom to install a custom ROM, which replaces the default Operating System with a new one installed. So, in these situations, adding a new custom ROM OEM unlocking gives permission to do so later using fast boot commands.
3. Running services:-Enabling this option gives you the freedom to monitor the same thing which you monitor in your desktop’s task manager. It lets you view how much RAM currently running apps are using. So, if you want to clear the cache, you can do it easily by comparing which one is consuming more RAM.
4. USB debugging:-USB debugging lets your Android device Interface with your computer by using certain commands. Paired up with the Android SDK on your computer, you can issue commands to your phone to install apps, collect logging information, or even root the device. It is a powerful function but stays secure, you should use this option when you are pairing, otherwise, turn off this feature. If you see that your system is somehow hacked or is showing unnecessary symptoms then you can click on Revoke Debugging authorizations to reset all computers you’ve trusted on.
5. Select Mock location app:-Our phone has an unbuilt system to track our location even if you are not opening the GPS. But while using this feature you will be able to report fake locations instead of the place where your phone really is. To enable this setting you have to install some third-party apps which are not secure at all. The apps are like location Changer and Fake GPS location. (I will not suggest you use this feature as it may lead you to some serious problems in the future, this is just for educational purposes only). You may fool your android with your present location but whenever you visit any spoof website and spoof GPS coordinates your location will be shared as a means of IP address. For fooling such spoof websites too…you may use a VPN changer to change your virtual private network address by changing your IP address.
6. Force 90HZ refresh rate:-If your phone dynamically changes refresh rates based on certain criteria, as pixel 4 does, you can force it to always use the high refresh rate with this option. Keep in mind that it will increase your battery consumption and you need to charge it at equal intervals of time.
So, these features are very user-friendly to use except point 5, as changing location by fake third-party apps is highly not recommended.
So, use these features without any hesitation, it is completely safe to use.
There are many other features that I don’t write about like Override force-dark, Animations scale, show taps, disabling absolute volume, default USB configuration, and don’t keep activities.
I think most of you know about it so I have written only about those hard points that I thought most of you don’t know.
But if you don’t know about these other features then let me tell you that:-
a) Override force-dark:- if you like dark theme and you are using it on your phone you must notice why WhatsApp and other apps still show white backgrounds and why I am not able to change that? If you want to change all these white backgrounds into permanent black then use this feature and all your apps will be in black background. Still, some new apps do not support this feature but almost all popular apps support this feature.
b) Animations:-Whenever you click on an app or close an app or move from one app to another app your phone takes some time and now you can control that time by using this feature. You can increase that time or can decrease that time in a blink.
c) Show taps:- Enabling this option will show your finger touches wherever you touch on your android smartphone. It is helpful in screen recording and understanding screens which you usually see in many youtube videos.
d) Don’t keep activities:- By enabling this option whenever you leave any app your full activity will be destroyed at that time and no cache data will be stored in your RAM, which will eventually help in faster response for your android phone.
So, use this feature wisely without any hesitation.
Does enabling the developer option in Android phones affect the phone in any way?
No, it doesn't. But your phone can be easily exploited if it happens
to be in the wrong hands. People can connect your phone to their PC
and
do many things using ADB console, without needing to unlock the
screen. So don't enable it unless you really need it or you have
to

What things we have to keep in Mind while using Developer Option ?
When using developer option on an android device, it's important to keep a few thing in mind:

2. Keep your device up-to-date: Developer options are designed to work with the version of Android that's running on your device. You are not raining the latest version, some of the options may not work correctly, or may even cause your device to become unstable.
3. Be aware of security implications: Some of the options in developer options can affect the security of your device. For example, the "USB debugging" option allows your computer to communicate with your device, which can be a security risk if your computer is compromised.
4. Use with caution on personal devices: Some of the options in developer options, such as options related to app debugging, can be useful for developers, but they can also cause issues with normal usage of the device. Thus it is advised to use developer options on a separate device, not your daily driver.
5. Understand the risk involved: Remember that by enabling developer options, you are essentially unlocking a set of tools that are intended for developers and experts, So it is your own responsibility if anything goes wrong. Always take backup before proceeding with any change.
